Short Biography
Experience
Peter advises founders, boards, and senior executives on corporate and commercial matters, including financings and investments, commercial contracting, corporate reorganizations and amalgamations, and ongoing corporate governance. He acts for technology and SaaS companies and for the investors who back them, and he is often engaged early, at the structuring and negotiation stages of a deal.
He began his career in mergers and acquisitions on Bay Street at Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP, then moved in-house as a director at a technology startup. That combination of firm and in-house experience shapes his approach – legal advice that is rigorous but also fits how the business operates. He also takes on fractional legal roles for growth-stage companies.
Peter consults on AI and legal matters, including AI governance and acceptable-use policies, and has advised leading AI and legal-technology companies, including major AI developers and legal information providers. He is a sought-after speaker and has presented as a key speaker at leading legal conferences and webinars across Canada on topics including AI, legal AI, and legal innovation.
Peter is an Adjunct Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School, where he teaches contract drafting and AI in legal practice. He also serves on the Board of Directors of York Region Children’s Aid Society.
